finally! i've been waiting for this to come out since i first heard the buzz months ago. natalie portman. i dont even know what to say. i was convinced that she WAS an actual ballerina, not just another actress in a tutu. bravo. i would say 'best actress, in the bag" but it may be too 'weird' for any major awards or for mainstream audiences to appreciate it. rodarte's swan lake costumes were perfect. they were proper ballet costumes and stuck to the tradition and crafstmanship of tutu making but they were still SO rodarte. darren aronofsky got me again. go see it.

hot mess

i came upon these works by artist alicia ross from her current exhibit 'hot mess'. she finds photos online of some the 'tabloid's favorite females', does a phrenology study, and then does a cross-stitch of their portrait. the results are rather stunning. plus, i'm partial to an artist who uses 'unconventional' methods and pays an excruciating amount to detail. the exhibit is on view now through november 21 at black & white gallery in nyc. here are a few of my favorites...
